A few days ago, Chinese developer Yunchang Game started the Final Beta phase for Devil May Cry Mobile in China. Just for more context, players are able to recharge currency even though data will be wiped, but they will get a rebate bonus during Open Beta. Back to the game, I must place a disclaimer here. I am in no way an action RPG or console gamer, and I am pretty used to auto-combat, something which Devil May Cry Mobile doesn’t have.
Hence, apologies for the shoddy gameplay video, it is just actually a preview to show Devil May Cry fans what the game actually feels like. So how will it make money? Well, the current version shows an emphasis on weapons gacha, with the Legendary rarity being the holy grail. All weapons in Devil May Cry Mobile has 3 evolution stages, but Legendary ones come a unique skill.
The other way to earn money is the direct selling of costumes, with a small stats buff of -3% Damage the most common bonus. Overall, I think that players will be wary of the weapons gacha, but there aren’t really many other ways to monetize Devil May Cry Mobile as a Free-to-Play title. They better not add wings to piss the community off. Yes, the voiceover are in English, but I find the game a hard sell in the West. We shall see!
